Wrexham 2nds 12 Shotton Steel 14
Shotton were put to the sword in the first 10 minutes as they adapted to the extremely heavy pitch made almost unplayable due to the incessant rain of late. Wrexham made the most of this with two forward derived tries, one converted. Shotton responded with a try from Dan Crossley after a long pass from skipper Dickie Grace, picked up smartly at Crossley's toes who made ground before releasing Jason Parry and managing to off load back to Crossley who crashed over the whitewash. Shotton started after the interval with much more gusto, camping mainly in the Wrexham half. Man of the match Martin Harvey seemed to be everywhere, the loose forward seemingly involved in virtually every play! Shotton's efforts were rewarded, late on, when Jason Parry picked up a loose ball, evading numerous tackles to run half the length of the pitch and touch down under the posts. Nick Wood added the extras to give Shotton a hard fought victory and safe passage to the next round of the Cup.
